Really pleased with this rug on my chunky 16.3hh ID lad, I struggle to find rugs to fit him. Great fit and has kept him cool and fly free in all the hot weather! I was skeptical about the lack of belly straps but we haven’t had any issues.
I’m away at the moment and can’t send photo. The horse it was for is big however he usually takes 7’ rugs I always edge on the side of caution and get 7’3” just to make sure. The rug is small and even the leg straps don’t fit which I believe is paramount to keep the rug on his back
Love these fly rugs, I have a rug ripper, can still damage these but only small tears that I can stitch unlike all other brands that have been shredded in a couple of days. Just bought another 4 for all my lot next summer. I recommend you stock up on these. ❤️
I have a 10 year old 18hh shire. I was very dubious it would fit him as he’s a big boy. It fitted very well apart from his chest, I just put an extender on.. perfect. The other thing that worried me was that there was no belly straps, I thought it wouldn’t stay in place, it’s never moved and he’s been wearing it for weeks. Also he is a serial rug ripper, not a single rip on it. I really love this rug, so much cooler than my other ones. I’ll definitely be ordering again. Would definitely recommend.
My black 16hh wb X mare has always ended up sweating under various fly rugs, until I tried Animac. Even in the unusually high temps in the UK this year (2025) she has regained as cool as she could.
Dubious it would remain in place with no surcingles that too has amazed me

Excellent fly rug. Doesn't grip the horse's body so allows air movement to keep him cool as well as fly free. Much better type of fly sheet than others I have tried.
Love these rugs! Me and my field friend got matching ones for our horses and they look fab. They have a routine of grooming each other each evening, and the rugs are standing up really well, they’re great quality and keep the flies off. It’s still a touch tight around the chest of my 16hh Welsh cross, despite buying there the 7’3 size, but I think she’s just a funny shape.

I got 6'3'' for my TBs and 6' might have been better but the rugs don't drag back over the withers even if they are a little bit long

My second order in 6years .love the rugs .trying red 7ft on my Irish sports x cob 17hh 10yr old as he is rounder .think it's poss abit big but you didn't have many sizes also purchased x2 blue (in pic) my other boy is 14yrs cobxquarter horse. Roughly 15.2 .love the rugs especially with no belly straps..
I have spent probably £300 plus trying to get fly rugs to fit my mare, all the big expensive brands.
She is a very short coupled, heavy cob and rugs tend to dig in on the neck and slide back on the shoulder.
A chance go at the animac...perfect! Because the sides are really long, flies don't tend to go underneath (I was worried about the lack of belly flap). It's lovely and cool for her, but tough enough to withstand bulldozer cob ploughing through our woods and her very playful fieldmate. One of the only fly rugs I've found where the neck isn't ridiculously long on her too. I recommend these to anyone!
This rug fits my 14.2hh welsh cob really well. He has a massive front and I always struggle with the fit. It appears to be staying in place at the moment and I just hope it is durable. Time will tell.
Bought this for a friend's coloured cob. Fits well and despite being described as a rug which may have had production issues, ie short neck, it was perfect. Very good sale price and arrived quickly. Ideal for the current heat wave.
Love the rugs. Leg straps a little short for my long backed boy who I bought the 6’6” rug for. The one in the background is a thoroughbred ex racehorse. The closer is a retired polo pony who is in his second year of wearing your rug and is very happy in it.
I love these rugs, especially this first version of them that fit my cobs really well. Roomy at the neck, I buy the ‘large horse’ version, and super fit all round. These rugs don’t slip and keep the horses cool and fly free throughout the day. At the reduced price, I’ve just ordered another two. Happy girls, happy owner xx
I have two Big Horse Animac fly rugs for my Welsh D. They fit him better than other brands and he doesn't overheat in them like traditional fly rugs. Four of my friends have now bought Animacs for their horses. I went down a rug size as they are quite long on the sides. I would love Animac to make one with a waterproof strip along the neck/back for those of us living in cooler/wetter countries.
These rugs are brilliant, easy to put on with minimal velcro, and sensible buckle fastenings :) I like that there is no belly flap, and the rugs right themselves after rolling. Super quality fabric, lighter and so much cooler than conventional fly rugs. Ponies have 2 each to allow one to be washed. 5*****

had first two rugs for my 14hh competing driving ponies about 4 years ago - bought two sets of replaements - not needed yet but thought have them ready for when needed I expect in about a year or so.
now have 1 set in orry clean for away shows and the other set in store. My son has young jumpers and bought 10 for his youngstock who spend a lot of time out!
My size is 5 9 and his for his 16hh plus horses was a mix of 6 6 and 6 3

I love these I had wide fit ones for my previous horse who sadly died the only criticism I would have of the standard is that the neck is not quite wide enough and I can just fasten it. She’s not a big horse a 14 hand traditional cob.
Great to find a rug that actually fits my new very overweight cob- other makes have been too tight around the chest and neck. But by choosing animac in her true length in the wide fitting we’ve achieved a good fit without having to up size. Happy with the fly rug - but do find she’s tearing the mesh a bit when browsing blackberries in the hedge! When I eventually get the weight off her I’ll be back for another rug in standard fit!

He loves his fly rug!... which is quite something as he won't wear a winter rug, just takes off at the sight of one. By contrast he comes over and "parallel parks" Infront of me when he sees this one, offering his back to make it easy for me to put it on doesn't want me to take it off in the evenings so I think I'm going to have to buy a second one for a change over.
In the UK there's only two or three options available for big necked horses, they're all quite thick polyester which is quite heavy and gets hot in warm weather so I was pleased to find this cotton version which seems much more comfortable for him. I wash it frequently (when I can get it off of him) and it washes well and drys fairly quickly.
If I do leave it on overnight it stays in place. I've experimented with the leg straps and found they need to be
1. Short enough to avoid any accidents catching the other hoof when stomping flies
2. Not so short as to restrict movement when they roll.
Initially I linked/crossed them over as directed but noticed that they then restricted him when rolling, kind of hobbing his back legs so I then just looped them normally around each leg again adjusting it making sure they didn't dangle and catch a hoof or catch below his stifle when rolling. I found the rug still stays in place like this and even if it's slightly lopsided after a roll or laying down, it seems to right itself with movement.
He's normal a 6'6" however I bought 7' as I needed good back end coverage as he can't use his tail following an injury. The 6'6 came just to the top of his tail and the tail flap is a little smaller than some designs so I returned it for the larger size so that it drapes down over his bum - perhaps not such an issue if their tails are working.
The size swap /return /refund was smooth and efficient. The items are dispatched from the UK however the customer service is provided by the owner on another time zone so if you need help swiftly such as with a courier issue as I had it's not going to happen. However he is very helpful and responds swiftly relevant to his time zone
Other than that all is good, my horse is very happy with the rug and I'm happy with the service overall and about to order a second one from them. I'm also grateful for the price point, some of the nylon ones from more well know companies seem really over priced for what they are, very happy with this one all round. design for larger horses...p.s. if you could design some fly boots to add to your range next which are longer than the standard 38 - 40 cm that would be great!
I really love this rug as my horse always rips normal fly rugs ,he has to wear a rug all the time as rubs his coat on fences etc because of flies and midges and being coloured his coat looks horrible if he doesn't, love the no belly straps ,stays in place even better than with ,the only thing I would like to be better is a wider neck cover at the bottom as you can see from pictures it doesn't cover him ,he is not heavy set only 15hds and is short coupled ,thus is a 6ft 3 and fits perfectly every where else, but on saying that I would definitely buy another one.
I bought this rug on a whim, despite having never heard of the brand, as it was a really good price and I liked the cotton and mesh design. On the whole I'm really pleased with it - it doesn't move at all and has kept my horse cool and comfortable, and the flies away, during a really hot spell of weather. The only thing I would say is that I wish I had sized up, my horse has a really long neck and the neck cover could do with another couple of inches to give coverage when he had his head down. The leg straps are also pretty short and one of them has started to fray after the first wash. On the whole though, very good value rug and I would buy another.
